I'm itching to get the kayak back in the water! I've got some maintenance to take care of and a few upgrades I'd like to try. What have you done to prep your fishing kayak for the season? Any products you'd recommend or would like to see me try? Let me know!
The survivalist in me really enjoyed checking out these Worldwide Survival Systems Ditch Packs. From a small, single hiker/kayaker pack up to the huge Poseidon 950 4 person/4+ day, 50 pound waterproof case, they've pretty much got you covered in any on the water emergencies!
Getting the camper ready for the trip over to ICAST this week! I'll be posting from the show floor as always, seeking out anything fly fishing related! Make sure you follow along! Let me know if there's anything you'd like to see or know more about and I'll do my best to make it happen!
This is why the buddy system is necessary when kayak fishing in Florida! They are fascinating creatures from a distance, but my biggest fear is that we'll both try to catch the same fish!
Testing out a new seat set up for my kayak. So far I'm pretty happy with it, I just need to figure out a better way to mount it. I'm hoping to put a lot of miles on and land a lot of fish in this kayak this year, so keep an eye out for various improvements I'll be making for 2019!
I had to spend some money in my FSA last month, so I decided it was a good time to update and upgrade my first aid kits. I ordered three kits from Adventure Medical. The yellow is the Ultralight and Watertight .5 that'll be shared between my sling pack and kayak bag. The blue is the Mountain Series Fundamentals kit that'll stay in the truck. And, the Orange bag is the Sportsman Series Grizzly that I'll keep in the camper. I always feel better having a good FAK handy!!
Made it to the convention center and completed registration! Excited for this year's show, but now I sit and wait until the New Product Showcase reception opens!
There's something uplifting about putting your favorite hat on in the middle of the week and smelling the campfire and recalling the adventures from the past weekend.
We made it over to Mississippi this morning and found a gorgeous creek to fish!! I was warned against launching the kayak due to a VERY large alligator that frequents the area along with several recently confirmed crocodile sightings. There was an alligator and exotics farm nearby that had been compromised during hurricane Irene!! The fish weren't in a biting mood anyway, so we'll just have to go back!
To all my friends in north Georgia and beyond, keep posting the snow pics!! I love seeing them and, honestly, I'm a bit envious. Having said that, we're to be in the low 80s today, so I am seriously thinking about going out for a paddle after work!!
