Young Outfitters
Drove up to Palatka this morning to check out the Blue Crab Festival and ended up discovering a small fly shop! Young Outfitters opened in January of this year on Palatka's Second Street and carries an assortment of kayaks, rods and reels (fly and conventional), flies and lures, and a selection of hats and tshirts. They also offer classes and gear rentals! Check them out if you're ever in the area!

MCFF Tying Meeting - 20 May 2019
Finally made it back to an MCFF Tying Meeting last night! Emmet Pizzo ran an in-depth class on hollow-tied baitfish patterns. He started out with hook selection and variations, then covered tying thread, weed guards, fur and material options, making 3-D eyes and different head cement choices. The class tied along as Emmet walked through the steps of tying this productive psuedo-fur baitfish. I'd say, no matter the tying level, everyone in the class learned something last night! I need to practice a few more (I'm obviously very rusty!), then tie a whole box of different variations!

Surf Casting Practice
Waiting for the line to straighten to start the second haul. The double haul and tension method are essential to surf casting, especially when casting into the wind.

I said I'd never do it.
I said I'd never do it. But, I needed a budget saltwater reel in a hurry. So, I did it. Worst part is, I had to get it from Amazon to get it in time! Would anyone be interested in a First Cast video of the Redington Behemoth? Or, have you seen it enough already?
