MCFF Tying Meeting -- 17 June 2024

 At tonight's MCFF Tying Meeting, the club's own Bob Dillon once again led the tyers with some variations on the classic Gartside Gurgler! Tying in bucktail, palmering hackel and working with foam are some of the foundation skills that are always good to practice! The MCFF Tying Meeting is the third Monday of every month, and, as always, all are welcome. I'll be glad to save you a seat!

After watching a Flip Pallot video showing his modernized knotted leader construction, MCFF club secretary Capt. Frank Brownell ran us through a close-up demonstration of the process! The technique features a snelling-type constrictor knot, a modified step ratio that's a huge departure from the classics and a much longer overall length to improve your chances with today's more shy gamefish. Mid-Coast Fly Fishers meets the second and third Monday of every month, and as always, all are welcome! I'll be glad to save you a seat!

Tonight's meeting of the Mid-Coast Fly Fishers also saw Tournament Director Guy Faherty present the Winner's Package for the May flyfishing tournament to Bob Dillon! Bob won the honor with an incredible tarpon catch! Congratulations Bob! Submissions are now open for the June tournament, so get those flies in the water!
