Less Than a Quarter Mile Downstream
Hard to believe there's a major interstate less than a quarter mile downstream.
Such a blast on the fly!!
Got out with Steve Hudson tonight and caught a few more of these guys. Such a blast on the fly!! Too bad the run is winding down, but it was sure fun while it lasted!

The One Pound Range!
Managed another largemouth on a popper today! According to the Release Ruler he was about 12 1/2" long, which clearly put him into the 1 pound range! I've never been one to carry a scale while fishing, so it's nice to have an easy to carry ruler that gives approximate weights!

Poppers on the Office Pond
It was warm and sunny today so I thought I'd give poppers a try on the office pond. I figured I'd be catching bluegill, so it was a pleasant surprise when this gorgeous largemouth slammed the topwater!! Beautiful markings and a solid 11" on the Release Ruler!!

Spring Garden Lake, de Leon Springs State Park
A float plane preparing to take off from Spring Garden Lake, de Leon Springs State Park, de Leon Springs, Florida. A ride in one of these to a remote fishing hole is absolutely in the top 10 on my bucket list!!

Putting miles on the Frequent Flyer!
Putting miles on the Frequent Flyer! -- This is the only 5 weight I own! It's been from Florida to Sweden and is currently my go-to for the local white bass run. It packs down shorter than my two weight but even with 7 sections it casts beautifully.

I'm beginning to catch more crappie than anything else on the office pond. Must be time for a different fly! Any suggestions?

These Put a Serious Bend in a 5 Weight!
These white bass put a serious bend in a 5 weight! They fight like a bluegill would if a bluegill weighed two or three pounds!!

The Wind was Pretty Strong Today...
Here's the rest of that crappie from the eye shot. Crappie eyes remind me of a cat's eyes when the pupils are dilated. The wind has been pretty strong again today, so casting the 2 weight TFO Finesse was a bit tough, but it got the job done!

Fish Are Staying Fairly Deep
Another successful lunch break on the office pond today. Really had to give the flies time to sink, with these temperature fluctuations the fish are staying fairly deep.

Gorgeous Green Sunfish
Yesterday wasn't spent entirely on instruction. I took a few minutes and made some casts to a hole under a tree where I caught this gorgeous green sunfish and a few of his buddies!! Look at those colors!!!

An Incredible Day...
I got to spend an incredible day helping Steve Hudson introduce fly fishing to Georgia State University's Touch the Earth group. The day started with fly tying and casting instruction, then to a small bluegill stream to practice their new skills, then on to bigger water chasing white bass. Everyone in the group landed a fish on a fly they tied themselves!! Including this white bass caught by Michelle!! An awesome group of folks, I really hope fly fishing becomes as much a passion for them as it has for me these past few years. And, I hope I get to help Steve again with another enthusiastic group!

Time at the Vise
Spent some time at the vise tonight. The bluegill and crappie have been going nuts for these white and black micro-buggers.

Nobody else ever...
Had a great evening on the office pond. I managed to catch all 5 on the same fly and still didn't lose it! Seems I normally lose a fly 1 or 2 casts after landing a fish. Thats just me, though, right? Nobody else ever loses the one fly working that day.

Crappie on the Two Weight!
I don't catch enough crappie to know if this one is considered big or not, but he's a lot bigger than the 'gills I was catching tonight and he put a serious bend in my 2 weight!!

I believe I was witnessing a little largemouth lovin' at the office pond tonight. They couldn't care less about me or the fly I dropped in front of them!!

NGTO Spring Fling 2016
I had the privilege of hanging out at the Alpharetta Outfitters booth with Jeff and Nova today, giving them an extra hand when the wind tried to blow the shirts away. The NGTO Spring Fling is always a blast and full of very interesting and knowledgeable folks. I'm already looking forward to the Fall Fling!!
