Lake Wauburg at Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park. The 254 acre, trolling-motor only, lake is shared by the State Park, the University of Florida and a few private homes. The wildlife was incredible, but the fish, for me, while plentiful, were uncooperative. After a few months of listening intently, I finally made my very first contacts on the radio tonight! The first was with a Parks On The Air activator in upstate New York on 20 meters, then I checked in to the Volusia County Traffic Net on 2 meters. I'm learning something new every day and looking forward to making many more contacts!
