Born Outdoor Badger Bed 25 & 30 Press Release

I was recently sent these two press releases from Born Outdoors for their Badger Bed bedroll systems, and I was greatly impressed!  When I was still living up in North Georgia I contemplated many times spending a night streamside in the national forest in the bed of my truck, to wake before dawn and have a cup of campfire coffee before hitting the trout streams for the day.  This bedroll definitely would've made that possible and incredibly comfortable!  Check it out and let me know what you think!

Born Outdoor - Badger Bed 25

Designed to provide a supremely comfortable and incredibly convenient night’s sleep on almost any outdoor adventure, the Born Outdoor Badger Bed 25 is the latest offering from Born Outdoor. This slimmed-down version of the original Badger Bed 30 is a modular bedroll system better suited to overnights in tighter spaces, such as rooftop tents, vans, truck beds, or anywhere space comes at a premium.

The base of this system is a 25”-wide outer shell made from post-consumer recycled 600 denier ripstop fabric with a DWR TPU-coating for exceptional durability, water repellency, and resistance to abrasion. Inside, a Large MondoKing Thermarest self-inflating mattress (77”x25”x4.25”) provides outstanding comfort and warmth. From there, the Badger Bed can be customized for cooler weather with the Sierra Down Quilt and the Cascade Flannel Sheets, or for warmer weather with the synthetic Baja Quilt and Mojave Cotton Sheets. All of this is rolled up together into a compact roll 33” wide x 10+” in diameter and weighing only 14.6 lbs. Mix and match sheets and quilts to further customize your sleep experience. The Badger Bed is also sold complete as the Badger Bed 25 - Sierra Bundle ($785) with a down quilt and flannel sheets or as the Badger Bed 25 - Baja Bundle ($755) with a synthetic quilt and cotton sheets.

Star brite RV Wash & Wax

When I spoke to the folks at Starbrite at ICAST this summer, they were kind enough to send me home with a jug of RV Wash & Wax to try out on the camper. I finally got around to trying it this weekend and I really liked it! It did a fantastic job washing the grime off the fiberglass skin, shined it up at the same time, maintained a high volume of suds throughout the wash and smelled like the purple lollie pops you used to get from the bank as a kid! I'll use it a few more times before I do a full review, but, so far, thumbs up!!! 👍

On The Fly Outfitters - Brunswick GA

We took the camper for a quick trip up to the Golden Isles area of Georgia for Valentine's weekend. Since we were nearby, I wanted to check out On The Fly Outfitters, a cool Fly/Falconry/Outdoors shop in Historic Brunswick that I've been following on IG for a while. These guys are definitely keyed in to their area and have all the gear you need for a successful day in the outdoors. Get by and see them if you're around! I added a new fly shop t-shirt to my collection and dropped off a few Suburban Angler stickers for the door. I will be sure to check in with them next time I'm up there fishing!

Florida RV Super Show 2020

We're heading to the other side of the state this weekend to check out one of the largest RV shows in the US! I might post a few times from the show if I see anything remotely flyfishing related, but I'll try to keep the strictly RV and travel trailer posts over on @the_anglers_workshop IG account. Follow along if you're interested, let me know if there's anything you'd like to see, and, as always, I'll have stickers on me if you see me at the show!

Saying Goodbye to The Pup

The Pup  --  2018 Cherokee by Forest River Wolf Pup 16FQ
The New Rig  --  2020 Grand Design Imagine 2670MK

We said goodbye to a dear friend this past weekend.  I really can't think of a better way for us to have dipped our toes into the RVing lifestyle.  We were only together for just under two years, but The Pup traveled with us from the Florida Keys to the North Georgia Mountains and from St. Augustine to Pensacola.  Over 80 nights of camping, around 30 trips in 21 months, The Pup provided us with shelter, a cool respite from bugs, a warm, dry place to sleep, meals, conveniences, office space, and adventures and it will always have a special place in our hearts.  However, our trips are becoming longer and further from home and a little more elbow room (and the ability to stand up straight in the shower!!) has taken precedence.  On Saturday we joined the Grand Design family by taking delivery of a 2020 Imagine 2670MK!  This new camper is roomier and better appointed than several of my previous apartments, all of the comforts of home (including an actual desk, a dedicated work space while on the road!) and, while much larger than the 16' Wolf Pup, is still small enough to be maneuverable and fit in most National Park campgrounds.  We're going to miss The Pup, it was such a fun, little camper, but I know we're going to love this new Imagine!  If you see us on the road make sure you throw up a wave! .

Seems like I've been ready for this for a while now!

Seems like I've been ready for this for a while now! A cool front is to push through tonight giving Central Florida some pseudo-fall, ideal camping temps! Just hope it doesn't put the bass and bluegill down because there's some very fishy looking water here!!

Adventure Medical

I had to spend some money in my FSA last month, so I decided it was a good time to update and upgrade my first aid kits. I ordered three kits from Adventure Medical. The yellow is the Ultralight and Watertight .5 that'll be shared between my sling pack and kayak bag. The blue is the Mountain Series Fundamentals kit that'll stay in the truck. And, the Orange bag is the Sportsman Series Grizzly that I'll keep in the camper. I always feel better having a good FAK handy!!

Hurricane Restoration

Hurricane restoration efforts are still ongoing at Bahia Honda State Park. The day use beach is open and seaweed free, so we did get some beach time in.
