Vibe Shearwater 125, ICAST 2019

I was given a tour of the new Shearwater 125 prototype from Vibe Kayaks. This boat is designed to be an all-day fishing machine!! Packed with cool features, but the four position seat that converts to a raised casting platform really impressed me! Look for it to be released early 2020.

New Product Showcase Preview Reception, ICAST 2019

Made it to the New Product Showcase Preview Reception, in spite of traffic on I-4!!! This area, quite literally, holds thousands of the newest, latest and greatest fishing products from all over the world!

Getting the camper ready for the trip over to ICAST this week! I'll be posting from the show floor as always, seeking out anything fly fishing related! Make sure you follow along! Let me know if there's anything you'd like to see or know more about and I'll do my best to make it happen!

Buddy System

This is why the buddy system is necessary when kayak fishing in Florida! They are fascinating creatures from a distance, but my biggest fear is that we'll both try to catch the same fish!

Testing out a new seat...

Testing out a new seat set up for my kayak. So far I'm pretty happy with it, I just need to figure out a better way to mount it. I'm hoping to put a lot of miles on and land a lot of fish in this kayak this year, so keep an eye out for various improvements I'll be making for 2019!

Smelling the Campfire

There's something uplifting about putting your favorite hat on in the middle of the week and smelling the campfire and recalling the adventures from the past weekend.

We made it over to Mississippi

We made it over to Mississippi this morning and found a gorgeous creek to fish!! I was warned against launching the kayak due to a VERY large alligator that frequents the area along with several recently confirmed crocodile sightings. There was an alligator and exotics farm nearby that had been compromised during hurricane Irene!! The fish weren't in a biting mood anyway, so we'll just have to go back!

"How do you guys transport your kayaks?"

@t0tallydan posed the question this morning "How do you guys transport your kayaks?". This is how I do it, and it works very well!! It helps to be able to hold the kayak over your head for a few minutes to load up!!

You're never the only fisherman on the water.

You're never the only fisherman on the water. Fishing gives us some tremendous wildlife viewing opportunities if you can remember to stop and look around once in a while.
