Another great night of fly tying at Mid-Coast Flyfishers! Bob Dillon coached us through the challenging tie of Bill Bishop's Tarpon Mouse. Featuring a rabbit zonker tail supported by 80lb flouro, hackle feathers and spun deerhair! I went with the classic red and white, but black and purple is the more popular combo for our waters. MCFF meets the 2nd and 3rd Monday of every month. As always, all are welcome and I'll be glad to save you a seat!

MCFF Tying Night -- 16 June 2025
Not totally sure mine turned out 100%, but the St. Simon Scampi was a fun tie at tonight's MCFF Tying Night! Flash, rubber legs, crystal chenille and plastic beadchain all topped off with a rabbit zonker strip will make for a fly with great light manipulation and some amazing movement in the water!
The MCFF Tying Night is the third Monday of every month! As always, all are welcome and I'll be glad to save you a seat!

Great turnout at tonight's MCFF Tying Night! Capt. Frank Brownell started us out with a presentation on the Eyes on Seagrass grass tracking app to fulfill an assignment for his Master Naturalist studies. Then, Bob Dillon led the tyers in tying one of his amazing flies, the BD Shrimpoon!!
Tying Night is the third Monday of each month, following our regular meeting on the second Monday. All are welcome, and as always, I'll be glad to save you a seat!

MCFF Tying Night -- 17 March 2025
Tying Night at MCFF saw Bob Dillon leading us with his interpretation of the late Bob Popovic's Hollow Fly that he dubbed the Spye! As per usual, mine was tied far too heavy, but this is a great technique that's open to lots of customization to suit your fishery! Tying Night is the 3rd Monday of each month! All are welcome, and as always, I'll be glad to save you a seat!

MCFF Tying Night -- 20 Nov 2023
Tonight's MCFF Fly Tying meeting was presented al-fresco! Carl Sanders walked everyone through tying the Simpson's Shrimp, which utilizes an inverted tying technique, working from the eye to the bend. Lots of learning tonight! As always, all are welcome, and I'll be glad to save you seat!
