Awesome seasonal novelty tie at tonight's MCFF Tying Meeting that lead many to believe we were tying a Tarpon Toad variant right up until completion! ( and, really, we were!) Many thanks to Carl Sanders, our fly-tyer extraordinaire for ending the year with such a fun and challenging fly, but also for all his service to the Club and the many incredible ties and techniques he shared with us during his tenure. He will be missed, but we wish him the best and hope he'll drop into the Club any time he's able! MCFF meets the 2nd and 3rd Monday of each month, with tying night on the 3rd. As always, all are welcome and I'll be glad to save you a seat!

Thanksgiving afternoon made for a stunningly beautiful time to throw poppers on a pond! Hooked up a nice little bass, that was the icing on the cake!
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Korkers Debuts Cozy, Waterproof Neo Flex™ Thermo Collection
Portland, OR – (October, 2024) – Korkers, the award-winning outdoor footwear brand, is proud to introduce the Neo Flex™ Thermo collection, a fusion of cozy slipper-like comfort with rugged, waterproof performance features intended for wet, mucky, cold winter days. The collection of slip-on boots features two color options for Men and two for Women. In addition to a soft, fleece lined interior and protective, waterproof rubber outer, the Neo Flex™ Thermo boots are constructed with proprietary Cush-Tech™ premium underfoot cushioning and Kling-On Grip™ performance outsoles.
“As a brand well known for creating high-performance, technical footwear built for rugged outdoor performance, we are excited to offer incredibly comfortable footwear that can be worn every day during fall, winter, and early spring seasons. Recovery and other athleisure footwear designed for after-sport activity is currently trending, but there are not a lot of quality options for those who often face outdoor conditions like rain, muck, and wet soil and grass. As someone who lives in the great Pacific Northwest, constantly battling wet conditions on an almost daily basis, I know first-hand how useful this type of product is” said company CEO Brian Chaney. “The fact that these are literally, the coziest, most comfortable waterproof boots I have ever worn, with our entire wear testing team echoing similar thoughts, has us very excited about this new product launch” Chaney continued.
Korkers continues to redefine footwear design and construction, and the Neo Flex™ Thermo collection exemplifies the company’s commitment to innovation, comfort, performance, and style. Discover the perfect balance of comfort and function with Korkers Neo Flex™ Thermo collection. The new Neo Flex™ Thermo boots have an MSRP of $145 and will be available through premium outdoor retailers beginning in late October 2024.
Tonight's Mid Coast Fly Fishers meeting featured former club president, and current FOP Lodge liaison, Mark Patterson, who presented the club with a thank you letter for the members who helped clean up the lodge property after this year's hurricanes, and also to relay stories of the early days of MCFF, a fly pattern design credited to members of the club and to show his amazing rodbuilding handiwork! Another great meeting in the books, so I hope you'll join us for the next one! Second and third Monday of each month. All are welcome, and I'll be glad to save you a seat!

Our day started out pretty soggy, with some fairly heavy rain falling on the banks of Lake Dora at the seaplane port in Tavares, Florida. Fortunately, the rains subsided and we were able to walk amongst some of the most incredible wooden boats I've ever seen gathered in one place. The Sunnyland Antique Boat Festival is reputed to be the largest festival of antique and wooden boats in the entire eastern United States! There were definitely more boats presented than we were even close to be able to see! Every imaginable boat type was represented, from tiny little wooden racing boats and canoes, to massive, multi-engined luxury launches! This turned out to be a great day for us, an excellent day for a show and I really look forward to going back again next year. In the pictures that follow, I tried to give a good overview of what was there. There's no way I could photograph and share everything, so if you're interested, I encourage you to go next year! I know I'm looking forward to the next one!
I hope you're all doing well!![]() |
