I said I'd never do it. But, I needed a budget saltwater reel in a hurry. So, I did it. Worst part is, I had to get it from Amazon to get it in time! Would anyone be interested in a First Cast video of the Redington Behemoth? Or, have you seen it enough already?
Picked up an ARC Fishing Bonefish/Redfish line to replace the line that tangled with oyster shells. I'm looking forward to throwing it with my Walters Fly Rods Cinder Creek 8 weight, but now I'm tempted to want a new reel to complete the ensemble!!
Spent some time with the Mid-Coast Fly Fishers this morning learning a tension casting technique that should improve my saltwater game. Coming from small stream UL Flyfishing, I need all the help I can get for these salty fish!!
Stunning day at the boat ramp at lunchtime today! I actually took a few minutes to make some casts with the Redington Path I picked up last week. For a hundred dollar, 8 weight, saltwater flyrod, I was pleasantly surprised. Seemed to cast pretty smooth. More opinions to come!!
I stopped by one of the big box outdoors stores last night to pick up a more comfortable kayak seat and use up an old gift card. They didn't have the seat I was looking for so I bought an inexpensive 8 weight to try out. I'll do a write up on TheSuburbanAngler.com and let you know my thoughts after I've fished it a bit. .
What's your favorite inshore saltwater fly? No fishing until I'm officially a Florida resident, so I'll work on filling a saltwater fly box in the mean time.
