Talked a little shop with Mark Keller, celebrity fly tyer and creator of the Eflyz. There's still a couple slots open on the Eflyz species board that I think I'm going to try to fill in this year!! Check out these amazing hardbody flies for yourself!!

Put My Ty-Rite, Jr. To Work!

Had the chance to put my Ty-Rite, Jr. to work on some size 14 Elk Hair Caddis! Makes it so much easier to hold on to small flies without crushing the fur or feathers.

Simple Bunny redfish fly

Barrie Mann led the MCFF Fly Tyers group tonight in tying his Simple Bunny redfish fly. Very easy fly to tie, no reason not to keep a dozen on hand!! Mid-Coast Fly Fishers in New Smyrna Beach meetings are second Mondays, tying nights are third Mondays.

MCFF Tying Night: Nomad Fly

The fly from last night's Mid-Coast Fly Fisher's tying meeting was an all-species fly from the pacific north west called the Nomad. Originally a trout fly, but scaled up and taught by member Carl Sanders to work in the warm, Florida saltwater. Definitely one to tie in various sizes!

Wolff Indiana IFTD 2017

Some may not know that Wolff Indiana also has an industrial scissors division called KAI. Debuting at this year's IFTD Show, KAI is now making two lines high quality fly tying scissors! The holes in the smallest scissors were large enough for even my fingers to fit comfortably!

Fair Flies IFTD 2017

Had to check out the Fair Flies booth after seeing one of their videos. 5 materials are packed into these brushes!! Originally designed for Salmon and Steelhead in the PNW, they're finding that the possibilities in other fisheries are nearly limitless! Can't wait to try some in the Florida marshes!!

Tail Flyfishing Magazine

I just finished reading the print version of the July/August 2016 issue of Tail Fly Fishing Magazine I got at IFTD. It's not often I sit and read a magazine cover to cover, but, I can honestly say, I was disappointed when I turned the last page! Amazing photography, awesome destination articles, techniques, fly recommendations and even a fly recipe in this issue. I really look forward to seeing the next one! This is the first issue available in print or you can visit tailflyfishing.com for the digital version. I highly recommend it if you have the slightest interest in saltwater flyfishing!! Now, I need to go tie a few dozen white Clouser Minnows!!

My first attempt at an Elk Hair Caddis.

My first attempt at an Elk Hair Caddis. I think it went pretty well, right up until the hook slipped out of the vise and the thread broke at the same time, while I was trying to tie in the Elk Hair!! Let's hope attempt no. 2 goes a little better!!
